Senior Frontend Developer

Position Overview

This role is part of the Development Team at GrackleDocs and centers on building accessible, high-quality front-end experiences across our accessibility software and tools. The Senior Frontend Developer will design, implement, and maintain user-facing features with accessibility built in from the start, not added at the end. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, accessibility specialists, and quality assurance, to drive innovation and improve the experience for every user.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end web applications using JavaScript and React, with accessibility designed in from the outset.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement accessible, standards-compliant, user-friendly interfaces.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards across Grackle products (WCAG, Section 508, PDF/UA tagging).
• Test and validate with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and remediate identified issues.
• Support the migration of existing Windows desktop applications to modern web platforms.
• Integrate back-end services and databases into the web application environment.
• Contribute to cloud deployments and infrastructure management (Google Cloud Platform, Terraform).
• Lead and participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and uphold coding and accessibility best practices.
• Collaborate across development, accessibility, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with accessibility or document processing projects.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (React required) and at least one additional language (Python, C#, etc.)
• Experience with React Native Windows application development.
• Strong testing skills required, with proficiency in one or more of the following: Vitest, Jest, Storybook, Playwright, Cypress, Chromatic, or Lighthouse.
• Strong product sense required, including the ability to take vague customer intent, feedback, and pain points and surface requirements and appropriate UI/UX solutions.
• Knowledge of Python and MongoDB is an asset.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud, GCP, and Terraform is an asset.
• Strong technical expertise in accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) is an asset.
• Ability to analyze and improve workflows, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Entrepreneurial mindset or past entrepreneurial experience highly valued, including high agency, shipping velocity, bias for action, ownership, and initiative.
• Experience with LLMs and agent harnesses is an asset, including the ability to build agent loops to automate repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work remotely and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
