Position Overview

This role is part of the Development Team at GrackleDocs and centers on building high-quality, scalable solutions across the full technology stack. The Full-Stack Engineer will design, implement, and maintain both user-facing features and back-end services across our software and tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, accessibility specialists, and quality assurance, to drive innovation and improve the experience for every user. Accessibility expertise is not strictly required for this role, but experience or familiarity with digital accessibility is considered an asset. You will also help shape how we apply AI across our products and workflows.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack web applications, including front-end experiences using JavaScript and React and back-end services using Python.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers and development team members to implement user-friendly interfaces and scalable application functionality.
• Support the development of accessible products and features in collaboration with GrackleDocs’ accessibility specialists.
• Develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain reliable functionality across both front-end and back-end systems.
• Support the migration of existing Windows desktop applications to modern web platforms.
• Design, build, and integrate back-end services, APIs, and databases into the web application environment using Python and related technologies.
• Contribute to cloud deployments and infrastructure management (Google Cloud Platform, Terraform).
• Lead and participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and uphold software development best practices across the full stack.
• Collaborate across development, accessibility, product, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in full-stack web application development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React for front-end development.
• Experience with React Native Windows application development.
• Strong testing skills required, with proficiency in one or more of the following: Vitest, Jest, Storybook, Playwright, Cypress, Chromatic, or Lighthouse.
• Strong product sense required, including the ability to take vague customer intent, feedback, and pain points and surface requirements and appropriate UI/UX solutions.
• Strong Python skills required for back-end development, including experience building and maintaining back-end services, APIs, and application logic. Experience with MongoDB is an asset.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud, GCP, and Terraform is an asset.
• Experience or familiarity with digital accessibility and accessibility standards (such as WCAG and Section 508) is an asset, but is not required.
• Ability to analyze and improve workflows, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Entrepreneurial mindset or past entrepreneurial experience highly valued, including high agency, shipping velocity, bias for action, ownership, and initiative.
• Experience with LLM and agent integration is an asset, including experience integrating AI-powered functionality into applications and workflows.
• Ability to work remotely and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
